PAKEJ BROADBAND TERBARU MAXIS

Maxis TalkMore28 and TextMore28

HTC EVO 3D: Not an impact but puts a wholly realized 3D experience

We could see it as HTC said it – the HTC EVO 3D is a little more than just a phone slapped with a 3D-capable screen; it’s a wholly new 3D experience, freshly ground into a smartphone mould, and meant to usher a new 3D-steered direction. But does adding 3D deepen an experience? And – most importantly, of course – how good is the experience itself?

So we go along answering this burning question by doing the physical experience first, which is the phone’s built. It’s large, perhaps on the monstrous side. It’s also expectedly heavy, though not so bulky that it perturbs the pocketing process. What we would readily say is that it’s solidly built, and that the core design is unproblematic.
What stands out most for the EVO 3D is, firstly, the dual cameras at the back (which juts out slightly), and a toggle switch that sits beside a dedicated camera button. This is one part of the camera’s 3D experience; it can capture 3D images and video, and can do so with a simple button toggle. It’s a great feature, which would’ve been better quality, but alas; you can see a light dip in colors and resolution with 3D images.

The qHD screen, on the most part, does a great job; it’s not as reflective and the screen display brightly and colorfully enough. Of course, it’s really the glasses-less 3D display that matters most, and it’s mostly commendable. With the best of 3D content, the 3D effect is great, but it’s not a perfect 3D viewing experience, as it requires the user to look at the right angle for the best view, and sometimes the slightest change losses it.

Running a dual-core processor at 1.2GHz, you can expect the EVO 3D to perform with the right amount of snappiness and speeds when running apps. Battery life is surprisingly decent, despite the screen, it won’t last for days, but at least we managed to reach midnight with decent amount of use.
It’s not a defining moment in smartphone history, but the HTC Evo 3D puts a wholly realized 3D experience to a solidly-built and powerful smartphone. While the 3D experience could be better, it’s undoubtedly a new, fresh and overall a good experience.

Pros : Powerful performace, 3D shooting capability, Glasses-Free 3D viewing
Cons : 3D viewing isn’t perfect

Killer Tablet!!!!!!! Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.. Ohsem!!!

Introduced earlier this year to the South East Asian region at the Samsung Forum 2011, the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is not just an evolution from the Galaxy Tab tablet that was introduced last year, but it brings a whole shebang of improvements with it apart from the increased screen real estate. First off, the device is a super-sleek tablet designed to look somewhat like its competitors although with its plastic back and thinner size.

Its slimness hides the fact that this tablet packs NVIDIA Tegra 2 processing capability, along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space. While it is as thin as the current tablet benchmark, the Apple iPad 2, it comes with a battery with slightly higher capacity at 7000mAH along with a weight reduction despite its hardware. It feels solid in the hand despite having a huge amount of plastic covering its back. Although the device is thin, it does not seem to flex and our fears of it breaking in half are pretty unfounded unless it is dropped on one of its corner.

With the review unit updated to Android 3.1 (instead of the 3.0 stock ROM), the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 did not come with Samsung’s usual TouchWiz interface instead employs tweaks such as the Live Panel on the home screen called TouchWiz UX. Samsung also included their recognizable widgets called Mini Apps which look somewhat similar to the applications you get in their smartphone range. Despite its Tegra 2 chipset, the tablet did feel laggy, especially in stock homescreen condition, no thanks to five rotatable homescreen pages that were chock-filled with widgets. This might be attributed to the OS update itself as previous version of this tablet scored higher on synthetic tests.

The screen is gorgeous, sporting a 1280 x 800 IPS panel while also having eye-popping colors at the same time. The same can be said whether we were viewing text, watching a HD video or flipping through our image library. This is due to its high pixel density which rivals the iPhone 4’s Retina display in terms of sharpness. It comes with Wi-Fi and HSDPA/HSPA+ wireless radios although a SIM with a data plan is needed for connecting to mobile networks.

Combining a set of stereo speakers, it is sufficient to say that playing back high-res movies on the tab 10.1 is highly amusing prospect. The only problem lies when you’re transferring large files over to its internal memory – the USB cable is, as always a proprietary version despite looking similar to a rival’s 30-pin connector. Although the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has niggles such as lag and a slightly different way in which it is executed, it is the closest Android tablet so far which made us wish that there were more apps for the OS to better show-off its capabilities. For now, that is the main reason we’re not too keen on Android tablets although if history repeat itself, they will be smashing new sales record pretty soon.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Specifications :

Processor : 1GHz dual-cre NVIDIA Tegra 2

OS: Android 3.1 Honeycomb

Display : 10.1 touch sensitive TFT screen with 1280 x 800 and multi-touch

Connectivity : Bluetooth 3.0 and A2DP and EDR, Compass, A-GPS Quadband GSM, headphones jack, WLAN 802.11b/g/

Pelan iDiGi Untuk iPhone 4, Saingan Sengit Untuk Maxis

Astagfirullah hal 'azim... tergoda tergoda.... Nak tau lebih detail pelan iDiGi? Klik kat sini. Untuk harga iPhone dengan iDiGi, klik sini.

Mari Kita Buat Perbandingan Antara Maxis & DiGi
Wah, iPhone 4 memang berita gempar Malaysia selain kematian jutawan kosmetik Puan Sosilawati.

So, sekarang kira dah terjawab sikit tentang harga.

Saya mula mengikuti perkembangan iPhone 4 sejak ia dilancarkan di US. So, kalau rasa was-was lagi tunggulah DiGi umum pelannya dulu, baru decide dari mana nak pilih.
Kawan saya beritahu kat Perancis (dia tinggal sana, baru balik raya hari tu), iPhone 3Gs dah tinggal Euro 99.00 saja lepas iPhone 4 dilancarkan.

Nokia N900: Mini Computer or Smartphone? You call the shot...

We’re not sure what to call the Nokia N900. Is it a smartphone or a mini computer with phone capabilities? We’re leaning to the latter.

We’ll spare you te technical details on this guy but just in case you need to know, it’s powered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor with 32GB of internal memory and runs on Maemo 5, a Linux based OS. Nokia has said that the N900 is developed with developers in mind and they were right.

Installing applications on the N900 is not as easy as going into Ovi and download the apps. While you can still do that, there are plenty of third party applications out there and in true Linux style, you’ll need to get them from repositories.

The Maemo 5 OS is brand new and exclusively only to the N900 and it’s a dream come true for Linux heads. It has its own Terminal for CLI, perfect if you need to full control of the N900.

Nokia mentioned that the N900 can run 28 items at the same time. We maxed out at 15 items not because it was slow but it’s because we ran out of stuff to run. We’re glad to report that it worked as claimed!

We like the Maemo 5 interface as well. All running applications are shown in a tab style page like the one on Google Chrome browser and you just click on the one you want to maximize it. The camera on the N900 is also one of the better one we’ve used till date. The flash wasn’t too harsh on the subject, something most camera phones fail to achieve. The 800 x 480 pixel screen is also wide enough to display most webpages in its normal resolutions, making web surfing an enjoyable experience on the N900.

If you are well versed with Linux and you want a phone that you can really make use of, the Nokia N900 is perfect for you. However, if you’re a consumer that’s only using a phone to make calls and send SMSes, the Nokia N97 will suite you more.

Pros : Brand new Maemo 5 OS, Good processing power, Glorious 800 x 480 screen

Cons : Might not be for everyone

Specifications :

Frequency : Quad band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS, EDGE, HSPA up to 10Mbps

Screen : 3.5 inch touch display at 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA)

Connectivity : Bluetooth, USB2.0, Wi-Fi

Others : 5 megapixels Carl Zeiss autofocus camera with dual LED flash, 32GB internal memory, microSD expansion

Dimensions : 110.9 x 59.8 x 18 – 19.55 mm

Weight : 181g

SonyEricsson Vivaz: Stylevista......

It might not look like it, but Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a camera phone, much like the Sony Ericsson Satio. That is to say, it might not have the best phone functionalities and proficiency, but when it comes to the camera and its performance, this is all that really matters. The Vivaz shines when it comes to its camera.

The phone has surprisingly much more compact design, especially when compared to the Satio; the screen has been bumped down to 3.2 inches, and while it might look a little bland, the curvaceous design and its size make it both very pocket-able and sleek in looks. The bottom of the screen houses the menu, answer and decline call buttons, while the lock button is relegated to the same as the power, with the camera function keys situated to the right side. Everything is within reach of fingers.

This leaves us now to the camera, located at the back of the phone. It takes images at 8.1-megapixels, and overall the picture quality pretty decent, with great colors in daylight shot and commendable noise reduction with darker shots. Like the Satio, the camera is jam packed with enough features to build a compact camera. It has smile detection, image stabilizing, geo-tagging and picture blogging features, making it as deliciously wholesome.

Even better is the video camera function that allows for video captured at 720p with continuous autofocus, something we don’t normally see outside of digital cameras. Image quality is just as decent, though with notable noise in dark shots.

The phone functionalities, however, take a backseat to the camera. The one big gripe with it is its somewhat problematic touch screen interface. The Vivaz utilizes a resistive touch screen over an S60 interface; it works alright when browsing and selecting large icons, but when it comes to scrolling with the scroll bar or managing through the keypad, the imprecise touch coupled with the unfriendly user interface just keeps aggravating.

Still, with a wholesome array of connectivity options like Wi-Fi and 3G, the phone can function pretty overall. As a camera phone, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz does what it does best. It’s just unfortunate that the finicky user interface mars the entire package, but if you can live through that, this phone won’t disappoint.

Pros : Compact design, Excellent camera, HD recording

Cons : Annoying user interface, No xenon flash

Sony Ericcson Vivaz Specifications :

Frequency : 3G, HSPA (900/2100MHz), Quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE

Screen : 3.2 inch Color 16:9 HD touchscreen (TFT) at 360 x 630 resolution

Connectivity : Bluetooth, USB2.0, Wi-Fi

Others : 8.1 megapixels color camera

Dimensions : 107 x 52 x 12.5 mm

Weight : 97 g

Compaq CQ42-177TX Best Buy! Best Value! Best Hardware!

We are writing this a little bit late, but it worth to write for. I just want to promote Compaq's notebook for 1st quater of PC Fair, CQ42-177TX.

What's the hype?
-Intel Core i5-430M (2.26Ghz)
-Intel HM-55 Chipset
-4Gb DDR3 RAM
-500Gb (7200rpm) Harddisk
-Altec Lansing Hi-Def Audio Speakers
-ATI Mobility Radeon (512MB Discrete Graphics)
-Bluetooth 2.1, 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI, LAN 10/100mbps
-14" Hi-Def BrightView LED Display
-5-in-1 Card Reader
-DVDRW Supermulti Drive (support Dual Layer)
-Windows 7 Home Premium
What's the extra catch?
-Priced @ RM2,699.00
-1 year warranty PLUS extra 2 year extended warranty

This is something, right?
As you all know, LED display is quite expensive if without warranty you will be spending around RM800++ for the display. If you go to HP Service Center, you will be spending RM1000++ for it(just like buying one new netbook).

Design?

You'll be amazed by it look. Champagne gold casing, keyboard layout quite similar to MacPro. ???? If there is no 'Q' logo people will say it is a Mac.

Performance? Is it really good?

Windows 7 index it at 4.0. I've run Adobe Photoshop CS3 & Nero 8 installation 30% less time than the 2Gb DDR3 CQ42-208Au (AMD Turion II Dual Core Mobile Processor M520 2.3Ghz). I know, this is a Quad Core machine we're talking, yes, but because of Windows operating system only 2.79Gbs of RAM is used. Blame it on Windows, ok. But if it is a Mac, all 4Gb of RAM will be use. To me, for a Windows this by far a good machine.
